Parashuram is one of the nice-looking, striking, neat and clean municipalities in Bangladesh. It consist 80% area are covering agriculture land and 41% people are engaged in agricultural activities. Parashuram municipality located in the southeastern part of the country, it is a place where the attractiveness of the nature has achieved perfection and preserved its purity. It is in the Chittagong division and situated on the bank of Kohuya River. It is located 25 kilo miters north from Feni City at 23.22°-91.44 N 23.36-91.73° E. It is a “C” class Pourashava and soon it will be initiate B class. South of the divisional headquarter and 250 km from the Capital city, Dhaka. Besides, over the country, Tripura state of India, there are a lot of hills and elevated lands around the area. Here also a land-port Belonia, day by day the import and export of goods is emerging. The Pourashava is situated on the highway connecting Parashuram and Dhaka. It consists of 10 mouzas namely Municipality, Salia, kolalapara, Aantopur, Baurkhuma, Dubla-Chand, Kandakia, Ghutuma, Berabaria and Bashpodua. It has 09 (Nine) wards covering an area of 24.70 sq. km. According to household survey (2009) total population of Parashuram Municipality is 33231. Population density and household size are 1484 sq.km. and 7.20 respectively. Parashuram is one of the districts of the country from where the large number of citizens has migrated to the overseas and earning huge amount of foreign exchange every year. The existence of family members staying overseas is a very common feature in the families of the area. The economy of the residents of the Pourashava is largely dependent on the members of the family residing overseas. |
